What Is LitRPG
LitRPG meaning.
LitRPG, or literary role-playing game, is the fusion of roleplaying games and traditional novels. It's the gamer's response to scrolling Steam and finding absolutely nothing worth playing. No games? No problem. Pick up a litRPG and dive into a game through the mind of a special character.
Technically, the genre is characterized by game-like features, such as
- levels
- a game-like interface
- a powerful "system"
...but the litRPG-ness of a litRPG story doesn't lie in its features, just as the human-ness of a person doesn't lie in a person's head, or chest, or hands. It's the overall vibe. If the story feels like a game, and it contains many game-like elements, it's probably a litRPG.
